The Consultation: What to Expect
initial consultation & Case history
The initial consultation will involve taking a detailed case history that outlines the presenting problem and your previous medical history. This allows us at Recalibrated to gain an understanding of the full picture of what is going on within your body. It is important for us to be aware of previous injuries and other medical conditions that might be contributing to your pain.
physical examination
The case history is followed by a physical examination, which involves a postural assessment, specific tests, movements and if necessary some orthopaedic and neurological tests. We evaluate the findings from the case history and examination, using them to determine a treatment plan that is tailored specifically to you. If we suspect that something is not quite right we can refer you to other health professionals for a second opinion or for imaging (such as x-rays and ultrasound).
treatment
Prior to providing you Osteopathic treatment, we will thoroughly explain the existing problem, the root of the pain and how we can work together to improve your health. At Recalibrated, we use a range of osteopathic techniques that include joint mobilisation, stretching, soft-tissue massage, gentle functional techniques, deep tactile pressure, trigger point therapy, visceral (internal organs) and cranial osteopathy.
At Recalibrated Osteopathic Care we believe a hands on approach is the most efficient way to getting you better. We seek to rebalance the biomechanical relationship between the limbs, head and neck, and the spine and pelvis. It is for this reason that we treat close to the site of pain as well as surrounding areas giving you a total body treatment.

advice
Following the treatment, your Osteopath will reassess some of the tests performed earlier in the examination. Depending on the severity of the pain and discomfort, some conditions may take a little longer to heal. While some people may feel better in just one or two treatments, others can take a little bit longer; especially where the pain is chronic in nature, lingering from months to years. We strongly believe that Recalibrated Osteopathic Care will initiate a process that gets you better, to a level of comfort and a pain free lifestyle. We offer clinical expertise advising you of exercises and activities that will aid and speed up the recovery process.
